FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Katy, TX — March 23, 2026
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® - Chi Omicron Omega Chapter, a trusted not-for-profit Greek- letter organization proudly celebrating 22 years of service to the community, is proud to announce a large‑scale Chi Omicron Omega CARES Day on Saturday April 11, 2026.
This milestone event will mobilize chapter members and community partners through coordinated volunteer activities at multiple locations across the chapter’s six service areas including Katy, Richmond, West Houston, Alief, Rosenburg, and Cypress. These community activities help increase community access, strengthen partnerships, and deliver meaningful impact where families live and work. This event comes at a time when Greater Houston families continue to face food insecurity and access gaps to community based services and support.
Since their chartering in 2004, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® - Chi Omicron Omega Chapter has been committed to advancing the well‑being of individuals and families through community service programs focused on education, food security, youth development, health, financial literacy, and social justice.
The upcoming CARES Day represents the organization’s commitment to expanding its reach and ensuring that their six service areas benefit from coordinated, hands‑on support.
“As we enter our 22nd year, Chi Omicron Omega Chapter will honor that legacy by pausing to serve collectively throughout our service areas in a single day,” said Chi Omicron Omega Chapter President, Kymberly D. Etheredge. “This event is about fulfilling our commitment to remain visible, address concerns in our community, and have joy while serving.”
● Multiple volunteer service projects take place simultaneously across Katy, Cypress, Richmond, Rosenberg, Alief, and West Houston.
● Strategic Partnerships with local businesses, and civic organizations
● Community-focused activities and programs addressing key community needs such as beautification, food distribution, women’s health, social justice and aiding the most vulnerable populations.
